Who would have imagined that Mumbai Indians could defend 136 against Sunrisers Hyderabad? But they did, and they did it with style by defeating SRH by 40 runs. Alzarri Joseph who made it into the squad because of Adam Milne's injury and because of Lasith Malinga's unavailability has turned his opportunity into gold. He finished with an extraordinary record breaking bowling figures of 3.4-1-12-6. He now holds the record of best bowling figures on debut.

Joseph announced his arrival by dismissing David Warner(15) on his very first delivery and bowling a wicket-maiden. In his next over he got rid of Vijay Shankar(5). He continued to trouble the batsmen with his raw pace, as he got the better of Deepak Hooda(20) and Rashid Khan on consecutive deliveries. In his final over he took the wickets of Bhuvneshwar Kumar(2) and Siddarth Kaul for a duck.

However, the plan to bowl Rahul Chahar in the Powerplay worked for MI, as he got the first break through taking the wicket of the in-form Jonny Bairstow(16). Chahar then struck again with a wicket dismissing Yusuf Pathan. He conceded only 21 runs off his 4 overs. He even saved few runs for MI in the field. Jasprit Bumrah and Jason Behrealso contributed with a wicket each, that of Mohammad Nabi and Manish Pandey respectively.

Earlier in the match, the SRH bowlers restricted MI to a low score of 136. Mohammad Nabi was the best of the lot, with exceptional bowling figures of 4-0-13-1. It was Kieron Pollard who took MI above 130. His innings of 46* off 26 included 2 fours and 4 sixes.

MI have now entered the top-four spot in the point table. They are at the fourth place with 6 points. They play their next game against the Kings XI Punjab on April 10 in Wankhade.

Scorecard: MI 136 for 7 in 20 overs (Kieron Pollard 46*; Siddarth Kaul 4-034-2) won against SRH 96 all-out in 17.4 overs (Deepak Hooda 20; Alzarri Joseph 3.4-1-12-6, Rahul Chahar 4-0-21-2) by 40 runs.
