It was the Mumbai Indian(MI) who got an end to Chennai Super Kings(CSK) winning steak. MI won the match by 37 runs defeating CSK in the match 15 in their own backyard. This was also MI's 100th IPL win. Kedar Jadhav had held his nerves till the end but could not get his team to win. He was the top-scorer with an innings of 58.
MI had a solid start to their second innings by dismissing 3 CSK batsmen within first 5 overs. CSK might have opted to bat second because of the dew factor, but it seemed like the MI pacers forgot that there is a something called dew. Kieron Pollar took a stunning one-handed catch near the boundary rope to dismiss Suresh Raina. CSK could only score 34 off the batting Powerplay. Debutant Jason Behrendorff bowled an outstanding opening spell of 4-0-22-2.

It was the first over of Jasprit Bumrah that helped CSK to gain some momentum. Bumrah's first over leaked 15 runs. In the middle overs, it was Kedar Jadhav who kept the runs flowing. In the process he completed 1,000 IPL runs as well. Hardik Pandya, who starred with the bat also bowled well taking 3 wickets, of which one wicket was that of MS Dhoni(12). Lasith Malinga then took the important wickets of Jadhav and Dwayne Bravo(8) in the 18th over.
Scorecard: MI 170 for 5 in 20 overs (Suryakumar Yadav 59, Krunal Pandya 42; Imran Tahir 4-0-25-1) beat CSK 133 for 8 in 20 overs (Kedar Jadhav 58, Lasith Malinga 4-0-34-3, Hardik Pandya 4-0-20-3) by 37 runs.
