After a lot of water flown under the bridge, Steven Smith and David Warner have made it back to the Australian squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019. However, what shocked everyone is the exclusion of Peter Handscomb and Josh Hazlewood. Both of them were inform in the recent ODI series.

The selectors named a 15-member squad on April 15, with Aaron Finch to lead the side in the World Cup. Handscomb has had a good average of 43 in 13 games this year, which includes his maiden century in India. However, with the return of Smith and Warner it was going to be tight for a spot.

The pace department includes Mitchell Starc, Jhye Richardson, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Pat Cummins; while the all-rounders are Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis. The spin department is handed by Nathan Lyon and Adam Zampa.

Australia’s World Cup squad: Aaron Finch (c), Jason Behrendorff, Alex Carey (wk), Nathan Coulter-Nile, Pat Cummins, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, Shaun Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, Adam Zampa
