The two-horse Premier League title race

Manchester City and Liverpool. It was always predicted that the winner of this year’s league would be between these two. Although teams like Chelsea (at the early stage of the season) and Tottenham Hotspur (a few months back) did come close to challenge the two-way battle, they were thwarted away. Sergio Aguero and Mohamed Salah, the talismans of City and Liverpool respectively, will have a major role to play in the upcoming matches for their teams.

Aguero is the top-scorer in the Premier League at present, with 19 league goals to his name. Not far behind in terms of goals is Salah, with 18 of them. Both the players have seven assists each. The likes of Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino too will play a very important role in controlling the outcome of the upcoming matches.

Liverpool has a string of easy fixtures lined up over the month, with just Chelsea being the only real threat they’d have to overcome. Comparatively, Manchester City has tough couple of fixtures lined up, with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United being huge mountains to climb, if they want to the make it two league wins in a row. But, since this is the Premier League you may never truly know the winner until the final match of the season.

At present, Liverpool leads the table by two points, but have played one game more than City. Meanwhile, the Citizens stand at 80 points on the table. It is very difficult to pick out a favourite as both the teams have been consistent winners of late and both are on a good run. In the end, it all boils down to who is good at handling pressure and who isn’t.
