Indian Premier League 2019, Chennai Super Kings(CSK) returning from qualifiers and coming to face the Mumbai Indians(MI) who have defeated them every time in this season. Does it get any bigger than this? To add to that, it was a roller-coaster of a match, with a last ball finish and MI winning by only a run.

CSK was on the front foot with only 9 runs needed off the last over and Lasith Malinga to bowl. Malinga had  20 in conceded his last over and almost gave the match away. However, his experience payed off. He defended those runs bowling consistent yorkers and mainly picking up the wicket on the last ball when CSK needed 2 runs. The last over timeline stands as: 1,1,2,1W,2,W. This was possibly the most-thrilling final in the history of IPL. MI now hold the record for most IPL titles, four.

150 was definitely a low score to defend for finals against CSK. They started well with Faf du Plessis scoring 26 off  13. Shane Watson almost won it for CSK, but was run-out in the last over. He smashed 59-ball 80 with 8 boundaries and 4 sixes. He was lucky thrice, but played equally well for that knock.

The turning point of the match was the run-out of MS Dhoni. Trying to sneak an extra run off an over-throw, Dhoni was done by Ishan Kishan's flat throw. MI were sloppy in the field and even dropped few catches but had the last smile. Not to forget a brilliant spell by Jasprit Bumrah of 4-0-14-2 with a mere economy of 3.50.

In the first innings, Pollard's 25-ball 41* got MI to a competitive total. Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and Imran Tahir contributed with 3,2 and 2 wickets respectively. Pollard—the birthday boy— kept calm and delivered when needed.

Scorecard: MI 149 for 8 in 20 overs (Kieron Pollard 41*; Deepak Chahar 4-1-26-3) won against CSK 148 for 7 in 20 overs (Shane Watson 80; Jasprit Bumrah 4-0-14-2) by 1 run.
