The match 51 of Indian Premier League between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad ended up with a tie, with away team chasing 163. Manish Pandey played an extraordinary knock to make sure his team fights till the end. With 17 needed off the final over and 7 off the last, it was Pandey who struck it for a six and leveled the score off Hardik Pandya. In the end, it was MI who won it and qualify for the playoffs.

Mumbai's superover

There was no doubt that it was Jasprit Bumrah who would bowl the last over. Krunal Pandya's quick throw got the wicket of the in-form Manish Pandey at the strikers end. The next delivery went for a single. Mohammad Nabi hit a six off the next. Bumrah came back strongly next ball with a wicket. With this the SRH inning was over, with MI needing 9 to win.

Hyderabad's superover

There was a bit confusion about who will bowl the over for the away team. It was then decided it would be Rashid Khan. Hardik and Kieron Pollard were the two batsmen for MI. Hardik cleared all the pressure by hitting a six off the first ball. MI now needed 3 off the next 5 balls. The batsmen then sensibly took a single and a double to finish it off.

SRH got to a good start, but it was Bumrah who took two wickets on consecutive balls of different over to pull MI back in the game. However, Pandey started his innings positively, but soon Krunal dismissed Kane Williamson leg before. The spinners took control of the run rate and did not allow the batsmen to open up. The pressure created got Krunal his second wicket as well. It was Vijay Shankar this time caught by Kieron Pollard at long-on.

This wicket got the young Abhishek Sharma in the middle along with well set Pandey. However, he had a short stay at the crease, as he nicked one off Hardik Pandya to de Kock. The away team now needed 58 off 33 balls with Bumrah and Lasith Malinga to bowl 24 off it. The equation was then down to 29 off 12. It was the home team in the end who held their nerves and went across the line.

Earlier in the match, Quinton de Kock anchored the innings with a below average strike rate. He scored 69 off 58 with a strike rate of 118.97. Overall MI were unable to accelerate the run-rate in the middle overs. Khaleel Ahmed was the most targeted bowler, but he also grabbed 3 wickets. Rashid Khan went wicket-less but had an outstanding economy of 5.21.
