It is known that American Airlines is cancelling 90 flights a day through April 24. It is because of the grounding of Boeing 737 Max. According to reports in CNBC, the cancellations were being made in an effort to provide more certainty and avoid last minute flight disruptions.

“By proactively canceling these flights, we are able to provide better service to our customers with availability and rebooking options,” American said in a statement. The Americans are also waiting for waiting information from Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Transportation, National Transportation Safety Board, other regulatory authorities regarding Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in its fleet to resume flying.

March 10 saw the death of 157 on board passengers with the crash of the Ethiopian Airlines jet and 189 passengers and crew were killed in the crash of Lion Air plane that went down in Indonesia. Both the planes were 737 Max jets.

To take care of the cancellation situation American’s Reservations team is contacting customers directly by email or telephone. “We know these cancellations and changes may affect some of our customers, and we are working to limit the impact to the smallest number of customers.”

Talking about India, many SpiceJet planes are also grounded.
