Rajasthan Royals(RR) elected to field first in the match 4 of Indian Premier League(IPL) 2019 against Kings XI Punjab(KXIP). The bowlers did well in the Powerplay overs to keep the batsmen quite, but they could not control what happened next. Chris Gayle, after having a steady start, went on to score 79 off 47 and KXIP finished with a fighting total of 184.

KL Rahul went early on in the first over off Dhawal Kulkarni. The bowlers kept it tight in the start overs not allowing Gayle to open his arms. Gayle played a matured innings, and waited for the bowlers to make mistake and lose their line. He was quick to charge on bad balls and the rest followed. In his innings of 79, he scored 8 boundaries and 4 sixes. It was in the 16th over of Ben Stokes, when Gayle was dismissed by a brilliant catch by Rahul Tripathi near the boundary line.

Stokes struck again in his last over with the wicket of Nicholas Pooran as Ajinkya Rahane grabbed a safe catch at long-off. However, Sarfaraz Khan took over in the death overs. He smashed 46* off 29 with 6 boundaries and 1 six.

Jofra Archer went wicket-less, but was the most economical. He conceded only 17 runs off his 4 overs. Jaydev Unadkat, on the other hand was the most expensive with an economy of 14.67.

Scorecard: KXIP 184 for 4 in 20 overs (Chris Gayle 79, Sarfaraz Khan 46*; Ben Stokes 4-0-48-2, Jofra Archer 4-0-17-0) vs RR
