I wonder why the return of David Warner and Steven Smith in Indian Premier League 2019 is not talked about? Does the news always has to be breaking and not making? Yes, like Smith, Warner has also been included in the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad. This IPL would provide an ideal platform for the duo to get back in touch, just before World Cup. SRH being the runner-up in the last season, they have the best chance to lift the trophy this year.
A loss for SRH would be the exclusion of Shikar Dhawan. However, with the return of Warner and inclusion of Jonny Bairstow, they have a dangerous opening pair. If anyone fails, there is Martin Guptill who can take up the spot. Kane Williamson, the captain dependable, is undoubtedly the best at one down. The middle order consists of Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan, Shakib al Hasan, Abhishek Sharma. Ricky Bhui would be someone the team would look to play, considering his recent T20 ton in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in just 38 balls. Bhui even had an amazing Ranji Trophy season, scoring 775 runs in 8 matches at an average of 59.61.
The tail end of the batting can be handled by all-rounders like Vijay Shankar, Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan. Williamson and Rashid, both topped the charts for most runs and most dot balls in previous IPL respectively. They are the most vital part of the team. Apart from them, Indian bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Basil Thampi and Siddarth Kaul have done a great job for the team in past years. The only international pace bowler the team has is Billy Stanlake.
Everyone in IPL has to prove their worth for World Cup or international cricket, but for SRH it is more, with the likes of Warner, Shankar, Bhuvneshwar and Pandey. India looked down to Pandey as number four, but his inconsistency cost him a spot in the team. Bhuvneshwar has been warming the bench since the return of Mohammed Shami. Warner has to prove himself in many ways, and not just runs.
Probable XI
David Warner, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Kane Williamson (C), Manish Pandey, Ricky Bhui, Vijay Shankar, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul, Basil Thampi, Khaleel Ahmed.
