The best part of Pune, Katakirr missal. |
Since my day 1 ended deliciously, I was more excited about the second. This was the only day I could relish all three meals. We had an early disappointment when we saw a small breakfast joint, named 'Kulkarni' shut in the morning. So we decided to go to Marzorin on MG Road.
We had a brown bread chicken stretched burger along with spaghetti. The Burger had a unique tangy sauce in it which dominated the taste of the burger. The spaghetti was extra cheesy. and with the heat outside, it became chewy. However, it's still a delight for cheese lovers. This meal cost us around 300 rupees.
The lunch was the highlight of the day. You haven't had spicy food if you haven't tried the spicy missal at Katakirr. They have various branches all over the city serving equally spicy missal. The menu is simple: Light, medium and spicy missal along with mattha (a type of buttermilk) and Curd. Believe me, you need that buttermilk to finish the spicy missal. I even had to order curd to cool down my burning tongue.
The piquant dish had a dark red gravy. The tarri (oiled gravy) was almost black in colour. The mixture will burn your tongue, but the taste will make you want to have more. After one glass of buttermilk and four pieces of bread, I finally gave up. I could not finish the whole portion.
After a mouth-flaming lunch, we went for a bland dinner at Marrakesh on FC road. We let our waiter decide our meal for th night and he got us the Dajaj Shwarma. The ingredients were as simple as pickle, hummus, garlic sauce, and tahini. However, this taste was drab for my Indian tongue palate.
We ended the day with a perfectly made cold-coffee in Neha cafe at Parvati Sahakar Nagar. This place is open until mid-night and attracts a lot of youngsters. Overall, my taste buds loved Pune, and we can't wait to explore more cities.
