IPL 2019: MI top the charts, KKR out as SRH qualify for playoffs

With Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders both having gold in their jersey, it was the gold and blue that shined brighter tonight. Mumbai have jumped to the top of the chart with this 9-wicket win as KKR miss their chance to qualify which benefits the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rohit Sharma was seen back in form with his half century. In his 55*(48) innings he hit 8 boundaries with a decent strike rate of 114. Rohit coming back to form was the last thing MI needed before the playoffs.

MI had a similar start to the Powerplay as KKR and just like them lost their first wicket just after it. Quinton de Kock however did his job before getting out to Prasidh Krishna as Dinesh Karthik took an exceptional catch covering large ground. Later Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit added 88 to the second wicket to win it for MI. Suryakumar scored quick 46* off 27 and finished the game with a six in the start of 17th over.

Earlier in the innings, the home team bowlers did a lovely job to restrict KKR to low total of 133 for 7. Chris Lynn was seen in good flow, but Hardik Pandya sent him and his partner to the dug out in consecutive overs. One of the reason for the score is also the slow innings if Robin Uthappa, who scored 47-ball 40, before getting out in the last over. Lasith Malinga was the star bower for MI with figures 4-0-35-3.

Scorecard: KKR 133 for 7 in 20 overs (Chris Lynn 41; Lasith Malinga 4-0-35-3, Hardik Pandya 3-0-20-2) lost to MI 134 for 1 in 16.1 overs (Rohit Sharma 55*, Suryakumar Yadav 46*; Prasidh Krishna 3-0-22-1) by 9 wickets.
