The Mumbai Indians(MI) maintained their record against the Chennai Super Kings(CSK) by defeating them by 6 wickets. They chased down 132 like a walk in the park with 9 balls to spare. It was the partnership of 80 between Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan(28) that took MI to the final of IPL 2019.

CSK did manage to get the early wicket of Rohit Sharma in the first over. Deepak Chahar got him out leg-before on the second ball of the innings. Quinton de Kock was soon dismissed by Harbhajan Singh in the fourth over caught by Faf du Plessis near the boundary. Suryakumar played a matured match-winning knock of 71* off 54 with 10 boundaries. He read the situation well and did not fancy his chances. He was dropped on 53 by Shane Watson off Ravindra Jadeja.

Ishan did a good job of rotating the strike but was done by a skidding delivery by Imran Tahir. Tahir then got Krunal Pandya on golden duck. However, it was too late for CSK then.

In the first innings, the MI spinners did a fabulous job of restricting CSK to 131 in 20 overs. Rahul Chahar was the pick of the bowlers with brilliant figures of 4-0-14-2. Ambati Rayudu was the top-scorer for CSK with 37-ball 42* with 3 boundaries and 1 six.

CSK will now face the winner of eliminator on May 10 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam.

Scorecard: CSK 131 for 4 in 20 overs (Ambati Rayudu 42*, MS Dhoni 37*; Rahul Chahar 4-0-14-4) lose to MI 132 for 4 in 18.3 overs (Suryakumar Yadav 71*; Imran Tahir 4-0-33-2) by 8 wickets
