Kolkata Knight Riders have managed to stay alive in the Indian Premier League 2019 by defeating Kings XI Punjab in their second last match. KKR chased down 184 with 2 overs to spare and 7 wickets in hand. It was Shubman Gill who anchored the innings with his 65* off 49. He hit 5 boundaries and 2 sixes with a strike rate of 132.65.

Gill along with Chris Lynn gave a flying start to the away team by scoring more than 10 an over in the Powerplay. Lynn scored some quick runs by hitting 46 off 22 with 5 boundaries and 3 sixes. Robin Uthappa and Andre Russell too contributed with 22 and 24 runs respectively. Dinesh Karthik's cameo of 21 off 9 took the team home. Andrew Tye was the most expensive bowler conceding 41 off his 3 overs. Although, he managed to take the wicket of Lynn.

Earlier in the innings, Nicholas Pooran (48) and Sam Curran (55*) helped KXIP reach a competitive total. Mayank Agarwal too got a good start but failed to make it a big one. He was ran out on 36(26) by Rinku Singh and Sunil Narine.
