The match 8 of Indian Premier League saw the first ton of the edition with Sanju Samson scoring 102*. SRH succesfully chased down the total of 199 with an over to spare. It was the joint effort of David Warner, Johnny Bairstow and Vijay Shankar that helped SRH to register their first win of IPL 2019.
SRH chased down the score in 19 overs very easily with David Warner again scoring most of the runs. Its been only two matches for him and he has already owned the orange cap for most runs(154). In his innings of 69, he scored 9 boundaries and 2 sixes. Jonny Bairstow too played a good supportive role, scoring 45 off 28.
After their dismissal Vijay Shankar took the charge and played a handy cameo hitting 35 off 15. It was the over of Shreyas Gopal that upset the rhythm of the home team. He got two wickets on consecutive deliveries to make things a bit hard for SRH. It was Yusuf Pathan(16*) and Rashid Khan(15*) who finished it for SRH. Other than Gopal and Siddarth Kaul, every other bowler gave more than 10 runs in their spell.
Earlier in the match, Samson scored a brilliant 102* by smashing 10 boundaries and 4 sixes with an excellent strike rate of 185. Ajinkya Rahane gave the away team a good start with his innings of 70 off 49. Jos Buttler was out cheaply on 5 in the 4th over. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the most expensive bowler with an economy of almost 14.
