IPL 2019: KKR end their losing streak, win by 34 runs against MI

Hardik Pandya was the lone warrior against a huge total by the Knights of Kolkata. He smashed the fastest 50 of IPL 2019 and joint-fastest half-century for Mumbai Indians overall. He was seen in no mood of grounding the ball as he smashed 9 sixes and 4 boundaries in his outstanding innings of 91 off 34. Although, with 233 to chase and little support from other end, he could not take his team home.

MI failed to get a good start early on losing 4 wickets within 9 overs. Kieron Pollard was promoted to two-down but failed to get going. He was eventually out for 20 off 21 with only two boundaries. Krunal Pandya got a lifeline early on, when he was dropped on 12.

Hardik smashed his first six on the second delivery he faced, and there was no stopping for him from then. He scored his first boundary after hitting 7 sixes. He specially targeted Piyush Chawla who went for 49 off his 3 overs. He was struggling with cramps, but that seemed least of his concern as he was standing and delivering. He however fell in the final ball of third last over to Harry Gurney.

Andre Russell starred for the home team with the ball as well. With Hardik on a rampage, he only conceded 25 off his 4 overs taking 2 wickets and the important catch of Hardik. Piyush Chawla was the most expensive bowler but took the wicket of Krunal in the last over, picking his 150th IPL wicket.

Scorecard: KKR 232 for 2 in 20 overs (Andre Russell 80*, Shubman Gill 76; Hardik Pandya 3-0-31-1) won against MI 198 for 7 in 20 overs (Hardik Pandya 91; Andre Russell 4-0-25-2) by 34 runs.
