The search for a two-year-old boy unearthed a child kidnapping racket in Mumbra, according to the Thane police. While the two-year boy has been reunited with his parents, further investigations revealed an entire racket. Upon interrogation, the accused claimed that they had kidnapped seven to eight children in the past and killed and buried them.
On Tuesday, the police dug up the entire area under question but couldn’t find any human remains in the area. This can be suggested as an effort to mislead the police. The police said that soil tests will be conducted to verify the claims of the accused.
The accused include – Mohammad Azharuddin, Azim Divekar, Amira Divekar, Afreen Khan and Mubina Shah. According to the police, Afreen Khan kidnapped the neighbour’s son and fled to the Mumbra railway station on March 31. Following the complaint, a case of kidnapping was registered and on April 1, Afreen was caught and the boy was handed over to the mother.
The police said, “We are interrogating the suspects but they keep on changing their statement, making it all the more difficult for us. We are keeping all possible angles in mind and investigating. As of now, we have booked them for the abduction of the two-year-old.”
